Finally finished Voltron! I loved this show as a kid and well giant robots are cool!
I have other giant robots in my to-do list including a Gundam, a Veritech, and a Transformer based on Don Figueroa’s work but before making another bot I wanna make a sketch of a fisherman I did a little while ago, so stay tuned for more!

So, finally after a long time working on my little spare time :City of Angels” is finished.
Now I can move on to other exciting projects but first Voltron has to be finished! Hell yeah!

I wasn’t happy with the last crane I made so I modeled a new one with a more sci-fi feel to it. I also added the low res ships, I think I need a couple more made so the repetition is not so obvious.

My Voltron model was voted best Machine/Vehicle in the latest CGS Hardcore modeling challenge! check all of the entries and winners here. Great stuff.
Challenge Results

I’m putting the final modeling touches to this guy but I was too impatient too make a test render with the Mental Ray Physical Sky

I kinda put the “City of Angels” image on hold while I worked on this model. One of my favorite shows as a kid. I’ll most likely use a different pose for an illustration just to show all 5 Lions. I’m pleased how this model turned out but the work doesn’t stop here. I need to UV unwrap it, texture and light it plus I need to make a suitable environment.

This one might not be too useful for most of you since it is targeted more to medical and scientific animators such as myself.  Either way, there are great animation here to inspire anyone.  There are also tutorials which I have found extremely useful because I’m still learning Maya’s dynamics and most of those tutorials cover that topic on one way or another.  Check out the work and tutorials from Eric Keller, great stuff.

While on my daily run through my frequently visited websites I found a link to Sketch Theatre.  Here you can see time lapse movies of artists in action.  No matter if you are a 2d or 3d artist, I’m sure you will find some great inspiration here! I know I did.

I have done some little work on the “City of Angels image”.  Here are some low resolution ships that will be flying around the city.  Next, UV unwrap and texturing.

I was working on this image when CG Society launched the “Stempunk” challenge. Now that the challenge is over I’m continuing working on it. There is still a lot to do… need to finish modeling, texturing, lighting etc. This will mark the first image I document on the new site so you will see the process
